We have planned some mail server maintenance for New Year’s Eve. On December 31, 2011, we will be taking down our mail system for a few hours starting at 8PM EST (Toronto/New York). We do not have an estimate on the duration of the downtime, but do fully expect it to be completed within 4 -6 hours. As always, updates will be shared on our Twitter feed (@nerdshosting). All mail will be spooled by SpamExperts and then immediately delivered after the server is backup.

We want to give our clients advance notice that on Friday, July 15 at 10PM EST, our team will be performing some maintenance on our mail systems. Total downtime will be kept to a minimum, and all emails will be queued during the maintenance window.

Last night our team successfully upgraded and updated our mail server with the latest Microsoft and SmarterTool updates. The upgrades went off without an issue, and the updates do seem to have the desired effect. One of the primary reasons behind the SmarterTools updates was the increased efficiency of our webmail interface, which does seem to be running a little faster this morning.

This is a reminder that nearly all our hosting services will be down for scheduled maintenance starting at 2:00am EST on October 16.

All dedicated servers will also be down during this maintenance window.

The Nerds On Site Hosting Team would like to give everyone advance notice that we will have a period of major downtime starting at 2am on October 16.

Our our main datacenter is moving space and will require this downtime to move our equipment to the new space. The purpose of this move is to a new space with more room to grow.

This outage will affect all Nerds On Site hosting services, except for our geographically redundant DNS services. We expect to start restoring services within 8 hours of the downtime starting.

This morning our development team took down our Trust Site (http://trust.nerdsisp.com) to work on a bug that has plagued the site for some time. First, we want to assure all our clients that the statistics posted on the trust site were always 100% accurate. The issue our team wanted to address was the timeliness of the stats, that is, we discovered that the statistics were always a few days behind. All maintenance work is now complete, and the statistics are now completely up to date and will remain that way.

Our data center team worked on our mail server upgrade all night, but unfortunately we ran into technical issues in moving to the new hard drive system. We’ve stopped the maintenance for now, and our team will work on the problem offline. Once a solution has been found, we will update our blog and twitter feed to let you know how we are planning to proceed.
